 Timeline

1960 — Relocation and Management Associates Inc. is organized and completes tenant relocation and urban renewal programs at Lindsay Park and Cadman Towers in Brooklyn.

1963 — Rental & Management Associates Corp. is organized to provide sales, rental, and management services to private owners and non-profit sponsors in Mitchell Lama programs.

1960’sComprehensive relocation studies and programs were undertaken in Milwaukee, Yonkers, North Hempstead, and Huntington and in Bayonne, Elizabeth, and Suffolk County.

1970sUnder the Sec.8 federal housing program, RMA redevelops, owns, and manages 378 units in buildings on Fox Street in the Bronx.

1980NYC initiates the 80/20 gut rehab housing program. RMA owns, redevelopers, and manages 213 units in 8 buildings in the Bronx

1988President Ronald Reagan awards Philip Schorr, RMA President, “The Private SectorAwards Commendation” in “Recognition of Exemplary Service in the Finest American Tradition.”

1990RMA awarded a HUD grant to acquire and rebuild three vacant buildings and rehabilitate a “sister” building with tenants in place for a combined total of 165 units in the West Bronx

1990RMA develops 21 attached two affordable family homes in New Cassel, L.I., for the town of North Hempstead.

1995RMA is Chosen by NYC HPD to provide tenant education services to enable tenants to acquire their “in rem” building. Since 200 buildings were included in the Tenant Interim Lease Program in preparing tenants to manage their buildings.

2005—Under the NYCHPD New Foundation Program, RMA developed and sold 23 -to two-family attached homes in Brownsville, Brooklyn.

2008RMA is chosen by the MTA to provide relocation services for the residential tenants required to move for the construction of the Second Ave Subway in Manhattan.

2009-2011Redevelopment & Management Associates and its team of mechanics and maintenance men undertake a $2,000,000 rehabilitation program for the Sec. 8 units on Fox St.

2019— One of the few bipartisan aspects of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, is the creation of the Federal Opportunity Zones Program.  RMA utilizes some of its capital gains to create several funds to invest in distressed neighborhoods across the country including Florida, Minnesota, New Jersey and of course New York. RMA Florida is established to service one commercial and two residential projects in Palm Beach County.
